Great comments, love the pointer to god twittering. What about satan, santa, and the toothfairy.

I don’t know the posters you refer to; they probably haven’t made it over here. Another good quote however, is this from the Baron d’Holbach (1723–1789) – sometimes credited with being the first person to openly and explicitly articulate a true atheism:-
“If we go back to the beginning we shall find that ignorance and fear created
the gods; that fancy, enthusiasm, or deceit adorned or disfigured them; that
weakness worships them; that credulity preserves them, and that custom,
respect and tyranny support them in order to make the blindness of men serve
its own interests.”
Both this quote and your’s also feature in Jonathan Miller’s thoughtful and erudite, “Atheism – A Rough History of Disbelief” – a series of 3 TV programmes shown on BBC here a few years back – highly recommended if you can find it.
Colin, thanks for the thoughtful comment and the pointers, I’ll follow them up. Hope that you are doing well, it’s been a long time. As for the Motivational Posters, you find them in offices here with sayings like “Perseverance”, a dramatic ocean shot, and a pithy piece of wisdom like “Don’t give up, never surrender!” They’re always black background, image, large caption and pithy saying. This one doesn’t quite make the grade, but still is close enough to be considered in the genre.
On 12.16.09 Lee wrote these pithy words:
“God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks to us in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf worldâ€

Winning since 33 AD? Someone didn’t know their history. DUMBASS! If they are winning then why are they losing?
On 02.04.10 Crowmanhunter wrote these pithy words:
Never heard of Baron D’Holbarch, but as for being the first person to openly articulate atheistic beliefs, I believe Epicurus beats him by about a thousand years.
And Loser Christian, simply having more people shouting, “But we think God is Real!” than Atheists, does not constitute victory. If anything, it only means they’ve refused to admit they lost since 33AD.
On 08.11.10 Jake wrote these pithy words:
Im pretty sure its referring to winning the battle of intelligence. or evolution. or common sense. or not being a crack pot.

The gift of free will given to mankind allows it all.

God did not create robots as humans or angels, the evil came from a fallen angel, just like humans you decide right or wrong.
Where does the before Christ and after Christ come from if it wasn’t true that he was born and then if He wasn’t important why did the whole world start with a new year after He died 2011 years ago!! He must have been a very important person??
Minky, from your comment, you seem to be a confused person. Lay off the religion and perhaps you’ll be able to think and express yourself a little more clearly.

I have always thought malevolent is the sure answer. Human to God = pets to human.
