This is the video that has conservatives knickers in a twist all around the country and is being called socialist propaganda. Take a look and judge for yourself. It’s celebrity heavy to be sure, but values like patriotism, self-reliance, taking action, making a pledge – these don’t sound like we’re watching the same video as the right-wing blogosphere. Hmm. Makes you wonder.

When this came out last November the main question I heard asked on the right was why these people didn’t feel like turning off the light switch under the last president. I’ve been using CFL and turning down my thermostat through quite a few administrations, so I don’t feel the need to suddenly show my love for a new one by doing what I should have been doing for years.
By the way, Iowahawk did a really funny “transcript” when it came out.
Well, actually, even though I loathed the actions and behavior of the last administration, I still turned the lights off and did, in fact, switch to CFLs. Heck, I even switched to a hybrid – though I’ll be the first to admit I did it for access to carpool lanes during rush hour primarily.
The thing that is so interesting is that I was pretty neutral about W until it became clear that we were using the 9/11 tragedy as an excuse for foreign adventure and that the reasons to do so were entirely manufactured. After Guantanamo Bay, FISA, starting the trend of spending ourselves to oblivion, and a laundry list of other activities did I become actively against the last administration.
Just the switch this time seems to have the right wing-nuts in arms without the same benefit of the doubt that was extended to W.
I’m refraining from any comment on this administration until they’ve had a year in office. I’m not entirely comfortable with what is transpiring, but I’d like them to have a chance to do something before coming to conclusion of right track/wrong track.
