After seven years, I turned in my badge at Sun today. I did so with mixed emotions, sad to depart from all the great people there, satisfied with all the memories (good and bad,) and excited to move on to the next adventure.
The gains in market share have been impressive and I expect that profitable growth will follow and be sustained. While I may not have the badge, I will still be rooting for you to win Sun.

I was at Sun for 11 years, and I feel the same way (and the fact that I work for a Sun partner), I root for them alot. PLus there’s all my Sun gear (tee shirts, golf shirts, bike jersey, etc) that I haven’t worn out completely.
Absolutely, fantastic to have worked and got inspired by Mike H. and his talented staff.
It was both rewarding and fulfilling to be part of inspired team, and product set.
…and if it was not for the cup of coffee and the discussion Mike had in Prague- I would have not been able to be part of that team. The sad story part is I was not there to join him; I was witness the birth of my second daughter. Best wishes of continued success
This was my second chance to meet Mike, the first time around Mike wanted to visit my account and team – he did not have the visit visa needed. But managed to shake his hand at later occasion in Menlo Park.
Montara Neighbor – good luck in moving forward. Good news is that there is a ton of opportunity out there for someone with your background. Many of these new web2.0 companies need what I call “mature” or experienced people to help them move forward. Good luck and i will see you on the hiking trail.
PS: check our our MAME project, linked off my site above. Still lots of work to do.
Thanks for all the comments folks.
Bill, the MAME project is very cool. I just added it to del.icio.us…
Dude…long time no chat.
Congrats on what I’m sure was a successful time in your life and career…we still miss you back at the MUD.
Speaking of which…did you ever learn how to properly use a speaker phone?
😉
Is it just coincidence that SUNW started heading up and to the right about the time that you and I left? 😉 It was a pleasure to have worked with you, but quite frankly, I’m much happier now. Hoisting a beer in your general direction…cheers!
Hey man! I haven’t talked with you forever – that is a big gap on my part. Cool blog! For those of you that don’t know – Mike was one of the two or three most important influencers and “creators” of my career at Sun. He was the genius that broke out of the box with an incredible technical product idea that became my livelihood and passion. Thanks Mike! Hope this finds you well – living the high life in the Moon, and finding joy.
Please get in touch if you can.
Warmest regards,
Holly
PS reconnected with Tony too. Found him in Tortolla…
