Since I seem to be somewhat inarticulate these days on this site, I think I’ll ask the great Riley (aka Blues Boy aka B.B.) King to help me out. Watch this great video from 1970 in a studio session. Amazing to think that he had been playing for 21 years at this point and is still going strong today.
Here are the lyrics for your reading enjoyment, though I think listening is much, much better.
The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong baby
And you’ll be sorry somedayThe thrill is gone
It’s gone away from me
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away from me
Although I’ll still live on
But so lonely I’ll beThe thrill is gone
It’s gone away for good
Oh, the thrill is gone baby
Baby its gone away for good
Someday I know I’ll be over it all baby
Just like I know a man shouldYou know I’m free, free now baby
I’m free from your spell
I’m free, free now
I’m free from your spell
And now that it’s over
All I can do is wish you wellWritten by Rick Darnell & Roy Hawkins, Performed by B.B. King
Now, does this mean I’m exiting the blogosphere? No committed answer, but I’m finding I don’t have much I want to share at this minute. So what I think will happen is that I’ll post something as the spirit moves me and otherwise not pay a great deal of attention to this. As you can see from my prior Twitter post, I’m all social-media’d out. Guess I’m not made of the same thing as B.B., it’s hard to imagine continuing to update this site in my 80’s.
So until next time. So long, and thanks for all the fish.
Its good to see you back and, I guess, sorry to see you may be losing steam again. B.B. King Live at the Cook County Jail is still one of my favorite albums. “…I bought you a $10 dinner, and you said thanks for the snack. I gave you 7 children, and now you want to give them back.”
Glad to oblige with the fish. Having to choose between your blog and BB King won’t be as tough as it was until now.
