The Bucks managed to overcome -4 turnovers, a safety, and overall offensive sluggish-ness to smother the Zips at the Horseshoe.
The Good
- The Defense: Wow, 69 yards of total offense, 3 first downs, and one forced fumble.
- Despite mulitple quick change situations, the defense dominated.
- The running game finally got going with 176 yards on the day.
- Fewer stupid penalties.
- The team overcame some adversity to still pull out the win, lots to learn about for next week.
The Bad
- Dropped interceptions, missed opportunities, leaving points on the board.
- The first half offense – 3 points in eight possessions.
- Regression of the offense from the prior week’s outing.
- Offensive line play improved throughout the course of the game, but is still clearly a work in progress.
The Ugly
- Turnovers: 5 on the day, -4 for the game.
- Lack of synchronicity on the offensive line.
If the Buckeyes turn in a performance like we saw today, Washington will win in Seattle next week. It’s not often a team can lose the turnover battle like the Buckeyes did today and walk away with the win. Well, that’s it for this post-game report. I’ll post another entry tomorrow on how all the Buckeyes opponents faired tomorrow. GO BUCKS!
