Here’s an example of a good call, late hit out of bounds that was helmet to helmet, with the defender leading with the helmet (also called spearing.) Not only was the call correct, under the spearing rules, Crable could have been ejected for that type of hit (which, for the record, I think would have been over reacting in this case – but calling the 15 yard penalty was spot on.)
Here’s an example of a bad no call, and it was happening all night. Notice right guard Alex Mitchell (#73) tackling the linebacker John Kerr (#52.) It’s not just a ticky-tack hold, it’s tackling the defender. Mike Hart may be a good back, but heck, I’d be a good back when the defensive line and linebackers are being held on each play.
Unfortunately, I can’t find video of the phantom pass interference or the comical roughing the center call (and subsequent non-calls when the OSU center was tackled with his head down.) Obviously, the outcome of the game was what I’d hoped for, but I can’t stand the continual whining that Michigan was robbed by the refs. It is simply not true.

Yeah, like all of the tons of non calls pac 10 officials never made vs the USC O line this year. And we won’t even go into the laugher that was OU/Oregone. Mike Hart is a good back? He’s hands down 50% better than any back in the Pac 10. Standby USC fans, the Rose Bowl invited the Wolverines and we got some payback for the condom lovers.
I hope JD Bootycall has upgraded his life insurance. Again this is proof any idiot with a keyboard and modem can blog his time away! For the record I never whined about the officiating in this game, the best team won! What’s your excuse for bitching?
Well Dave, you might not be whining, but a number of your skunkbear crew are. Officiating has been putrid the entire year – just providing examples as discussion wasn’t working. Pictures help students and graduates alike of The School Up North comprehend the meaning of concepts.
Proof that any idiot with a mouse and monitor can waste his time away reading content that other idiots with keyboards and modems write…..what more is there to say?
Hahahahah another OSU fan making up BS excuses.. You WON the game and you’re still making up excuses… pathetic.
Well Mr. Hahaha – I observe football games period. When something unjust happens, I comment upon it. That I’m an Ohio State fan in this instance is irrelevant.
When you’re man enough to come back and discuss this using real names, then I’ll take your opinion seriously. Until then, go leave your non-value added comments somewhere else.
wow and i guess you completely skipped all the “injust” calls going against Michigan…typical for an ohio fan who can do that that in the comfort being suppproted by other ohio fans. I am a Michigan fan and i live iin columbus ohio not too far from the stadium but i still support my team wherever i go
Show me the evidence and I’ll comment. The snapshots above are conclusive. Where are the injust Michigan calls? That’s what I thought…
i dont care too much about injust calls but what about the second part?
how about the play just before osu’s first tuchdown which was a pick play definiately not legal
Noyb, Huh? So you’re Michigan fan living in Columbus, that would be a tough life I’d think. Glad you support your team. I support mine too, what’s the question?
BTW, your team needs all the support it can get this year. It was a tough start to the year. You must be happy with the victory in Champaign tonight.
i dont even hate ohio state they are a good team i admit
Again, post a link to video evidence and I’ll comment. The game was nearly a year ago, I wrote this entry a year ago. I haven’t watched the game since then.
If there was a pick and it was illegal, that was a whiff by the refs too. However, the blatant holding is what stood out in that game to me, still does. I’ve never seen so much tackling by an offensive line in a single game.
Noyb, glad you don’t hate tOSU. I don’t hate Michigan either, in fact, I root for Michigan in every game except against the Buckeyes. Why you might ask? Because I want both teams to have as many wins and be as highly rated as possible. It makes the rivalry that much better.
I do like to poke fun from time to time however. But I hope that it’s not taken as being mean spirited.
i would have to agree with you but seeing how all of my friends are ohio state fans dosnt help me at all and its hard to try to root for ohio state when they like to that every time i wear one of my Michigan shirts but i do not to take this as mean sprited
whoa i think ur thing is messed up it says that i posted october 20th 9:24
but it is actually oct21 12:29
Think west coast, my friends are all Cal or Stanford fans…so the time is right depending on what timezone you happen to be in.
First off i would have to say i think Michigan proved a lot saturday night against Illinois. They didn’t have there leader,Mike Hart, at the time due to a high ankle sprain. Chad Henne and Mario Mannigham were both injured during the game. Michigan’s defense i think rose up to the challenge and showed people that they can somewhat stop and options attack offense. Good job to OSU too, they pulled out a big win over Michigan State. Well i guess we’ll see how they do against Penn State’s tough D. Just for the record i am a Michigan fan and i’m looking forward to this years OSU, Michigan game.
John, yes, Michigan pulled out a W in a tough environment last week facing adversity, a positive sign. I wouldn’t have guessed it from the start of the season, so props.
WRT to MSU, the score was closer than it should have been. I’m now analyzing Penn State, and I have to say, I don’t like this match up for the Bucks.
