The game wasn’t as close as the score indicates, no kidding. Wow, what a dominating performance by the Buckeyes. The defense came to play limiting MSU to 161 yards on offense, 61 rushing and 100 passing for the game. 103 of those yards and the lone score came in the 4th quarter against the defensive reserves playing prevent (which is clearly an area to work on, as it didn’t prevent the touchdown and preserve the shutout in the 59th minute.) The offense and special teams weren’t shabby for OSU either, rolling up 423 net yards and scoring a touchdown on a punt return respectively.

The boxscore shows a one-sided game – that it certainly was. If this kind of focus and intensity keeps up through the next few weeks, we’ll have a great time with Michigan come Nov 18 at the Shoe. Michigan beat MSU at home 31-13, Notre Dame beat them 40-37 away – this is a good benchmark of relative strength I think. (Though MSU did have a number of injuries coming into this game – and even more leaving it…)
