The military has large chunks of space with renewable resources available coupled with enormous utility bills. This combination leads the military to the obvious conclusion that using the renewable resources will free up dollars for use elsewhere.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nA long standing example of this pattern is the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Coso_Volcanic_Field\">Coso geothermal installation<\/a> on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nawcwpns.navy.mil\/\">China Lake Naval Station<\/a> in southern California. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caithnessenergy.com\/\">Caithness Energy, LLC<\/a> operates these plants (~260MW) as a joint venture with the Navy using some of the power locally and selling the rest to utilities for general use.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nThe most recent example comes from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarintegrated.com\/PR_Navy_07.htm\">selection of Integrated Solar Technologies to install a solar roof system<\/a> on a base in the south Pacific by the end of this calendar year.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nSolar Roof Installation<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/montaraventures.com\/pix\/solar-roof.jpg\" alt=\"Solar Roof Photo\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In what is becoming a common pattern, the US military is actually leading the way in the installation and use of renewable energy.
