Not a place I’d like to have an extended stay…even Motel 6 would be more appealing that these pods, or even coffins. Have any of our readers ever tried one?
Thanks for the pointer Sergei.

This is quite common in Japan. They are so called “capsule hotel” and it’s very much cheaper than usual hotels. I have never tried this, but I think there are more than 100 of this type of hotels in Japan. If you go to Google and search it by using Japanese characters, you can find many photos: http://images.google.co.jp/images?q=%E3%82%AB%E3%83%97%E3%82%BB%E3%83%AB%E3%83%9B%E3%83%86%E3%83%AB&lr=lang_ja&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:ja:official&client=firefox&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
People who want to travel with lower cost or who missed the last train to home use them frequently, but honestly speaking, I don’t want to use it at all…
Thanks Taishi, that’s a high value add comment. I’m with you, I don’t think I’d want to use it either.
After trying to snooze in an airport waiting out a 3 hour delay only to get seated for a six hour flight in a no-recline seat in front of the exit row with fully reclined seats in front of me, this looks rather comfortable.
