I appreciate your open-mindedness. As a BYU fan, I get miffed about being relegated to a have not. However, the MWC is arguably just as good a conference as the 5th or 6th BCS conference. If looking at it purely from an OOC BCS point of view, this year MWC would be better than the Big East and Big 12 (with AFA still to play ND). Last year the MWC had a 29% win rate against BCS teams, which would have made it better than the Big 12 and tied with the ACC. However, the money keeps them out of the fraternity game.

BYU Fan, Yeah, I guess I should. Realistically, the only mid-majors with a shot at the BCS this year are Hawaii and Boise St (if they beat Hawaii.)

But I do agree, if it's division IA football, the field should be level regardless of which conference a team hails from.

You should consider the "mid-majors" too. For example, the MWC currently has a 7 win 8 loss record against BCS teams. The top 4 teams in the MWC have a combined 6 win 3 loss record. However, the conference only has a 50% win rate against Div 1 (FBS) non-BCS teams, and a non-BCS OOC record of 61%. Still, they are on par with the ACC and Big East.
Admittedly, the other mid-majors haven't fared so well.
