Stone drawing of Hatshepsut, Egyptian Queen

Exciting news was reported this week that the mummy of Egyptian Queen, Hatshepsut, has been identified. Her story is little known as her successor, Thutmose III, worked to erase all evidence of her reign. She ruled in the 18th dynasty and was one of the most powerful pharaohs in ancient Egypt.

Once upon a time, I tried to convince my spouse to name our daughter Hatshepsut – she indicated that it was a name that meant “I’m a geek, beat me up.” So saner heads prevailed.
